History

The work of Melissa Sansone and Scott Noel, The Ivy Spa opened in the fall of 2007. Melissa moved her existing practice and combined with Scott to preserve one of the area's most historical and recognizable homes.

Built in the early 1930s by engineer Norman Cottrell, the home required extensive cosmetic work, but it's structure is as solid as would be expected coming from a man who built the Dunn Memorial Bridge and Saw Mill Parkway, amongst other public projects.

Inhabited by the Cottrell family for over 70 years, it was important to the owners to maintain the integrity of the home and add to it's beauty. Blessed with a coveted view of downtown Albany, Thatcher Park and the Catskills, the grounds will continue to be improved upon to create a peaceful park like setting you would expect from an upscale spa.

In January 2009, Kylie and Co. joined the Ivy Spa as a full service salon.

Check out the "before" pictures of the improvements to the home.
